If you still like light and airy (with some pops of color and pattern here & there) I hope you’re going to love this post revealing The Cottage Primary Bedroom! I know I’m not super great at sharing the process but I love sharing completed spaces with you along with the details of how my design evolved to a desired outcome!
Just to recap, we live in a coastal cottage in a bay community so, light and airy decor is the name of the game here. The first thing I really want to say about this space is that I would absolutely love to add some wall moulding to elevate it but as many of you know, we have started the process of designing our forever home and have decided it doesn’t make sense to invest anything more into the cottage at this point. That said, it’s been so fun to see it come together strictly using textiles, lighting and furniture, which is a good reminder to never underestimate the power of using just decor to transform a space when you can’t change anything else.
I’ll start to the left and go around the room clockwise…I just love the lacquered linen dresser (no longer available) with the black arched mirror overhead and the accessories I’ve assembled to complete this spot. It adds a nice focal point to the room and gives me a place to put some art pieces (black arched mirror& lakefront scenery) I love.
I recently found this brown vintage vase that I’m completely in love with. Until very recently I have actually been trying to find it in stock for a few months to compete the bedroom. It’s such a great piece and looks amazing with my faux blossom branches (just 2 in my vase). The alabaster clock, candle holders and decorative books were icing on the cake!
The curtains are an off-white linen with a tailor pleat header. I’ll share more details below but this black fluted nightstand with brass knobs is everything to this space. It’s roomy having two large drawers and the fluted drawer face adds such a beautiful detail to the bedroom. I also love these creamy, textured table lamps with white linen shade on our bedside tables.
I also shared our curtains in white in the cottage guest room HERE but I used my favorite rod & rings as well but I’ll be doing a dedicated post soon with all of the details soon!
Bedroom Curtain Details
Style: Pattie Belgian Flax Linen | Header: Tailor Pleat | Color: Off White | Finished Width: 35″ | Lining: Blackout – You can check them out them HERE.
My shades are from a to-the-trade only source so I can’t link them but HERE is a very similar option that I love as well.
The primary bed has a neutral base of linens with pops of color and pattern. And, I’m completely obsessed with our Talia Chandelier with wavy glass balls and a timeless feel! This art piece is also a new favorite for this space. The boucle storage bench at the end of our bed has been a complete life saver for storage of sheets and towels in a small cottage, plus it’s just overall a fabulous, functional piece for any area of the home!
I layered this blanket at the foot of the bed over a soft white linen duvet.
Also layered this patterned quilt under the duvet and my favorite lightweight linen diamond quilt under that in white. I mostly use these Boll & Branch sheets and they are absolutely amazing!!! between the linen diamond quilt and my sheets I use this waffle weave blanket that I also love in 100% cotton.
For my decorative pillows I used this block print pillow in a 22″ (2 of them) and this XL lumbar in a gorgeous rust, olive and white floral in the 34″ (the most gorgeous pillow!) layered in front of a linen diamond sham in ebony. And this is my favorite pillow insert…Always remember to go up 1-2 sizes with your pillow insert!
The floral and the block print both have a little soft black in them so that ties it all together and becomes a beautiful combination I think.
Again, so in love with our black fluted nightstands and love how they ground the space. The gold rope frame is also a big favorite accessory for our bedroom!
Our bed is pretty incredible. It’s simple yet stylish with flange detail on the headboard and is available in many different fabrics. I chose 100% linen fabric. I also added these wooden legs to it that I found on Etsy because when it arrived it felt much lower to the ground than I wanted so I used this white oak leg to elevate it.
The Amber Lewis/Loloi Morgan rug in denim is perfect for this space as well. It’s incredibly soft, a non-shedder and has tones of black, cream, rust, blue and terracotta. The colors are subtle and will go in any space. It has turned out to be one of my all time favorites (also extremely affordable)!
You probably noticed the floor mirror as well?! It strangely has a suede frame but overall it doesn’t come off as suede. It’s a rich brown tone and the shape of this mirror is such a nice break from the typical round or rectangular mirror! It’s also a new favorite in our home and a unique piece I will keep for many, many years.
I also love the reflection it creates with the mirror across the room – it just adds another element of surprise and character in the space and I love it:)!
I hope you’ve enjoyed the tour of the Cottage Primary Bedroom! Leave your comments and questions below and thanks so much for stopping by!
