The Cottage Multi-Purpose Guest Room Reveal
Thanks for stopping by to check out the Cottage Multi-Purpose Guest Room Reveal! I know, I promised The Cottage Primary Bath after I shared The Cottage Kitchen Reveal but we got the guest room finished recently for a family visit so thought I’d go ahead and share but the bathroom will be next! If you missed the kitchen reno reveal recently, you can find that HERE!

There wasn’t a lot of heavy lifting in this space really, just basic decorating and remember, this is a Cottage close to the bay and not far from a major beach (the Gulf of Mexico) so I wanted to keep the Guest Room light and airy while making it cozy and luxurious at the same time. I’ll come back to the bedding and curtains later in this post:).
And, I may not be done in here since I’m considering some wallpaper on that back wall behind the bed but finding the right paper will be the tricky part! Our guest room is a multi-purpose room that includes my husband’s office space so I’m sure it will be a journey to find just the right paper that doesn’t feel too fussy in here.
I absolutely LOVE the way the office space in The Cottage Guest Room turned out! I found this gorgeous black desk with brass pulls that feels masculine for him yet the style fits perfectly into the room. And same for the gray linen office chair on casters. I also love this brass floor lamp and I hung this small print called “Billow” in subtle colors above it that reminds me of the beautiful sunsets we get here on Mobile Bay.
I found this great floor mirror HERE. I love the frame on it (it’s real wood – not laminate) and it fit perfectly in this corner. I always love a good reflection!
The Bed & Bedding
Back to the bed wall…I am obsessed with this camel color bouclé bed to say the least! I needed something with a really low headboard because it sits in front of the window but the truth is, the moment I saw this bed I fell in love! It also comes in a beautiful cream color but the fabric and shape of the headboard combined are just perfect I think for this space. And the quality is great!
On the bed I kept it simple with a beautiful black and white modern floral pillow, a round faux fur pillow and a linen textured pillow (similar) in a pretty terracotta color that picks up on the colors in the rug. I used my tried and true linen diamond quilt and Belgian Flax White Linen Duvet along with an oversized throw (similar) at the foot of the bed.
We love this white fluted side table that can go anywhere, inside or out.
We also hung some sconces (similar) on either side of the bed. This would have been an awkward spot for a lamp with the closet doors on either side of the bed so we wired the sconces up from the wall outlet below and added a on/off switch to the outlet. I had always been told you can’t add a sconce to an exterior wall after the fact but that’s not true. As long as there is a power source close by in the wall that can be accessed you can definitely do it. Sconces were the perfect choice beside this bed and I already had these white and brass sconces from our previous home (that didn’t get used) so I was super happy to find a place for them at The Cottage!
The long view! I also really love this basket pendant we added to the room. I used this light in our previous home powder room and knew it would be perfect in here! The Rug also was a great find for the space helping to ground it and add a pop of color.
On the dresser side of the room I wanted a beautiful piece of furniture that would provide storage for linens and whatever else I needed it for. I found this gorgeous waterfall edge dresser with drawer fronts that are covered in raffia with a white wash finish and small brass pulls. The rest of the dresser is a medium brown tone. It’s perfect with lots of drawer space and anchors this spot. I love the uniqueness of this piece!
The Curtains
If you are wondering about the curtains in The Cottage Guest Room – if you follow me on Instagram you know I love These Curtains and have them in all of my bedrooms and living room at The Cottage. Behind the dresser I had them customized to 50″ wide after pleats, and behind the bed and desk I customized them to 75″ wide after pleats.
Everything about These Curtains is customizable, they are very good quality and affordable! Check out the end of this post for a Pinterest graphic with all of the curtain details to pin for later! I also used my favorite room darkening curtain rod and rings that I’ve used for years!
Some other fun details on this side of the room…I love these circle prints (1 & 2) in a light wood frame – I used the same frame as the print on the other side of the room over the lamp to bring some continuity to the space.
A lamp (similar) of course to illuminate this side of the room with ambient lighting and a couple of favorite vases (black vase, white vase) and coffee table decor books (book1 & book2).
Decorating this space was fun. I love that The Cottage Guest Room has windows on 3 sides and I think besides the bed and linens my favorite part is the office space. I also love the sconces we added either side of the bed, what’s your favorite part?! Leave me a comment below – I always love hearing your thoughts!
