A Hostess Gift You’ll Love, Tree Urn Tutorial + Black Friday Sale staples from my Home
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and have recovered by now from too much turkey and stuffing! We finally made it to the long awaited Black Friday Sales which is when I always shop for hostess gifts and anything else I need to complete my holiday shopping list. I also like to take the opportunity during Black Friday Sales to purchase anything else I need for my home because I know I’ll get the best deals on home decor and furniture!
This post was sponsored by Wayfair, a brand I love; however, all images, ideas, wording and product selections are my own. Affiliate links included. Please read my full disclosure policy here.
By this time of year I have done most of my big shopping and am starting to focus on the details like hostess gifts and filling in the gap gifts so I don’t leave anyone special out! These cute cutting boards from Wayfair come in a set of 4 with a spreader/cheese knife and the fringe hand towels come in a set of two, making this an easy, affordable way to come up with several individual gifts for family, friends and the hostess with the mostest in your life!
This scenario is always my go to for a gift that people are sure to love…with one set of 4 of cutting boards and 2 sets of towels (at under $80 for all), that equates to under $20 per gift which is always a win win for me! Simply layer one of the hand towels over one of the cutting boards, add a pretty ribbon and a sprig of greenery, and you’ll have a super cute, thoughtful gift to finish out your list!
Wayfair has extended their Black Friday Sale with free shipping site wide & up to 80% off 11/30-12/1!
I also wanted to circle back on this post about my Christmas tree because previously the planter/urn I ordered to put my tree in this year had not arrived yet but now that it has I wanted to share the finished result with you, and give you a tutorial on how I secured my tree in the pot!
The urn did arrive unexpectedly with a plug that came up into the middle of the pot about 3″ which made it a little tricky for the tree to stand upright but, this is what I did to secure it in place (see image below):
Christmas Tree Urn Tutorial
- Purchased some heavy duty craft foam – 1 pack flora foam 12×18 block & 1 pack dry foam, 8 bricks
- Placed the flora foam in the bottom of the urn in a double layer and used the dry foam bricks to fill the empty space on the sides – both foam types had to be cut to shape
- Marked the center and then made a hole for the tree pole using a hole saw (make sure you do this off center to miss the plug in the center bottom of the pot)
- Finished it off by using some of the craft foam blocks near the top of the pot to further secure it in place (not pictured because I added this step after placing the tree in the hole)
And here is my finished product! I still absolutely love my new pencil slim flocked tree from Wayfair and love the way it turned out in my new planter pot. I also love that my tree and a lot of my ornaments are on deep discounts for the Wayfair Extended Black Friday Sale event!
Wayfair also has tons of items as I mentioned previously on sale, up to 80 % off & free shipping so if you are looking for any good staple pieces for your home here are a few pieces I love from around my home.
I love this mantle mirror so much from our primary bedroom. It’s so chic…
This popular gray flange bed in my son’s room, which would be great in any room, is on the best price I’ve ever seen during the Black Friday sale!
And we absolutely love this black metal desk with leather pulls from his room as well!
And last but not least are accessories. One of the biggest items I buy from Wayfair are their home accessories. I always get the best price and I love their fast free shipping almost every time. I love this black sculptural accessory piece I use all around the house!
